1974 Volkswagen Transporter TYPE 2 (T2) SINGLE CAB PICKUP, KEY FACTS, A beautifully restored example of the classic utility vehicle, finished in a Porsche-inspired livery having been used as a business vehicle by noted marque specialist, Export 56., It is powered by a rebuilt 1600cc Type 2 engine producing up to 70bhp, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission., Delivered new to South Africa, it was imported to the UK and re-registered in October 2015, and was then subsequently restored., EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES, Originally a Brazil-built VW Type 2; this Single Cab Pick-Up was shipped to South Africa in CKD form, where it was then reassembled locally., It remained in South Africa for just over 40 years, before being shipped and imported to the UK., Between summer 2016 and summer 2017, this VW Type 2 was fully restored by Export 56, not only to create a usable company transporter, but also as a showcase for their capabilities., The Pick-Up was refinished in Green for the lower body and Cream for the top section of the cab. Cream was also used to pick out the bumpers, steel wheels and front VW badge, as well as the livery lettering. All of the exterior trims and light lenses were also replaced., Inside, the seats and door panels were re-trimmed in black leatherette, and the internal paintwork was also renewed, along with the steering wheel, door frames and handles., At the rear, a new load cover frame was installed, along with a khaki soft top.
